STC Annual Meeting Celebrates Senior Mobility

The Senior Transportation Connection Annual Meeting on May 16 will be hosted by the E.J. Bohn Rose Center, 1667 Ansel Road in Cleveland. The Center is one of six Rose Center sites that use our services to bring local residents to lunch, socialize and enjoy activities. The event begins with a buffet luncheon at 12:30 pm. Each year, STC invites our supporters to visit a partner location like E.J. Bohn with us. The annual meeting features highlights from the prior year, comments from staff, clients and the Board of Directors. This year, we honor Howard Maier, who completes his term as Board Chairman. Please join us to celebrate his leadership and advocacy to support the mobility thousands of Cuyahoga County seniors enjoy with STC.

Help us Congratulate Board Chairman Howard Maier

Mr. Maier is the past Executive Director of the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA), which oversees transportation planning, transportation-related air quality planning, and area wide water quality management planning by federal and Ohio mandates. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics from Ohio State University, a Master of City Planning from Ohio State University and a Master of Science in Public Management from Case Western Reserve University. Space is limited and reservations are required. Free parking is available. There is no charge for this event, however contributions to STC are always welcome support for our services. STC Plus, the new evening and weekend Senior Transportation Connection service, booked its first passengers in April. It offers seniors who live in Cuyahoga County new, accessible transportation possibilities at different times and to different places. Executive Director Janice Dzigiel explained that "Our goal is to help people connect to social, recreational and worship opportunities. We encourage people to consider group outings to a movie and dinner, or perhaps a play or shopping.  We look forward to exploring new activities and locations with our passengers." Individuals can contact STC directly to arrange for a vehicle that meets their mobility needs, operated by a trained driver. Call today to find out how STC Plus can drive your social life. Learn more here. Our very first STC Plus passenger had a practical reason for calling. Joanne Holchin was reluctant to reschedule a late afternoon physician appointment. She knew it would not be finished in time, so she arranged for STC Plus to bring her home. "I am looking forward to all the places where I now can go," Joanne said. STC Plus took Linda Bokan and her son Michael to St. Richard's Church on Easter morning. Linda is a long-time rider who enjoyed attending this special day with her son. They've already booked their next outing.

Thanks to STC, I go to the grocery store every week. I enjoy cooking my family’s favorite dishes.

My mother and I both use STC and we have truly connected with the staff. They treat us exceptionally well.

Without STC, to be perfectly honest, I would really be homebound. I’d be climbing the walls! STC makes my life very appealing.

STC is so helpful to me. Thank you a million times over!!!
